Supporting NYHealth’s Grantees
The value of program evaluation is widely accepted and recognized, but many nonprofits struggle with incorporating evaluation activities into their operations, often lacking the expertise, time, or resources necessary to conduct rigorous evaluations.
Early on in our grantmaking, NYHealth discovered that many of our grantees were interested in and could benefit from technical assistance in implementing their evaluation activities. To address this need among our grantees, NYHealth began funding a technical assistance initiative in 2008 that offers support in strengthening the evaluation aspects of grantee projects.
Dr. Carolyn Berry, who has led the technical assistance initiative since its inception, is featured on this Q&A.

Dr. Berry joined the faculty of the Department of Population Health at New York University Langone Health as Associate Professor in September 2011. She has been affiliated with NYU’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service for more 15 years and is the lead faculty of the Wagner School’s Program Evaluation and Policy Analysis course.
