Supporting NYSHealth’s Grantees

The value of program evaluation is widely accepted and recognized, but many nonprofits struggle with incorporating evaluation activities into their operations, often lacking the expertise, time, or resources necessary to conduct rigorous evaluations.

Early on in our grantmaking, NYSHealth discovered that many of our grantees were interested in and could benefit from technical assistance in implementing their evaluation activities. To address this need among our grantees, NYSHealth began funding a technical assistance initiative in 2008 that offers support in strengthening the evaluation aspects of grantee projects.

Dr. Carolyn Berry, who has led the technical assistance initiative since its inception, is featured on this Q&A.
