The global coronavirus has brought uncertainty and anxiety into people’s lives, workplaces, and neighborhoods, particularly for those who work to improve the health of our communities.

During this difficult time, many organizations across New York State are working tirelessly to keep people safe, especially the most vulnerable. In response, NYHealth is supporting statewide and local efforts to address emerging health care and public health needs in the wake of the pandemic. In 2020, NYHealth awarded Public Good Projects a grant to address the ongoing spread of vaccine misinformation across New York State during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under this grant, Public Good Projects expanded its Project VCTR (Vaccine Communication Tracking and Response) to track and monitor mentions of vaccines and provide essential information to health officials and practitioners working to end this pandemic. It further developed technical training for current users to access data, created more actionable information, and made these data and resources available to a wider audience. It also continued to track and monitor online data to understand the spread of vaccine misinformation and developed usable resources that organizations can use to make decisions and communicate with their communities.
