AI supports the legislative advocacy of social justice and movement-building organizations in New York City and State. It delivers trainings and tools, builds collaborative networks, and develops leadership to win legislative campaigns on issues ranging from protecting immigrant workers’ rights to advancing environmental justice.
Panelists were AI’s co-founders and co-directors Maggie Williams and James Schaffer, who discussed the founding of AI; shared an overview of its innovative work; and described successes and challenges they’ve experienced supporting nonprofits’ advocacy efforts at the City and State levels.
