For more than 15 years, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) has fought to connect, unite, and empower post-9/11 veterans. With a member base of more than 425,000, IAVA and its leaders remain at the forefront of key battles in ensuring that returning veterans receive the services they need and have a voice on Capitol Hill and across the country.

On August 20, 2019, the New York Health Foundation (NYHealth) hosted a conversation with Jeremy Butler, the newly appointed CEO of IAVA, for a discussion on IAVA’s direction for the future and how it will affect veterans across New York State. Mr. Butler spoke about the diversity of veterans and their needs, the importance of community for veterans and their families, and IAVA’s “Big Six” policy agenda items set forth by the priorities of its members.
