This Wakely Consulting Group report explores the significant role third party intermediaries have in New York’s health insurance market and recommends models for incorporating and compensating these intermediaries under health reform.

The report describes in detail the current roles of commercial third party assistors: agents and brokers; chambers of commerce and business associations; general agencies; and private exchanges as they relate to the small group (50 employees or less) market in New York today. It explores options for assuring these resources remain a part of the system to connect small businesses with health insurance, while meeting new Federal rules on the compensation and roles of third party assistors.
