DOWNLOADThis Trust for America’s Health report examines how health care costs could be lowered through preventive care.
Preventive care can have a particularly high impact on Type 2 diabetes, which incurs major health care expenditures in New York State.
Funding programs that increase physical activity, improve nutrition, and reduce tobacco use can lower levels of Type 2 diabetes, saving New York State an estimated $1.3 billion annually. Cost effectiveness studies are necessary to make the case the preventive health care should be a priority.
