The Institute for Family Health is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality and availability of family practice services to medically underserved populations. The Institute worked with the leadership of NYHealth to establish and lead the New York State Diabetes Campaign. The Campaign focused on reversing the diabetes epidemic in New York State by improving primary care for patients with diabetes, mobilizing community assets, and promoting public and private policies.

Dr. Neil Calman, President and CEO of the Institute for Family Health, led the Campaign in partnership with NYHealth. The Institute provides high-quality health care to underserved populations; sponsors innovative training programs for health professionals; engages in primary care health services research; and participates in health policy development at the national, State, and local levels. The organization is committed to eliminating disparities in health outcomes, and using health information technology to improve public health.
