Senior Grants and Operations Manager
As Senior Grants and Operations Manager, Mark Barreiro oversees the design and execution of systems and procedures that ensure efficient and effective grantmaking. He is responsible for all aspects of the grant lifecycle and implementation of the Foundation's data management system.
Prior to joining the New York State Health Foundation (NYSHealth) in 2007, Mr. Barreiro worked in grants management for The J.M. Kaplan Fund and The Commonwealth Fund. He was also the client communications manager for MicroEdge, a technology provider for the philanthropic community. In this role he worked with grants management professionals around the country, and organized and managed an annual three-day professional development and educational conference.
Mr. Barreiro is a member of the Grants Managers’ Network and co-authored a definitive guide entitled, Best Practices in Grants Management. Throughout his tenure in the field of grants management, Mr. Barreiro has conducted a variety of workshops and presentations. He holds a Master of Science degree in Teaching from Hunter College.
