Senior Program Assistant
As Senior Program Assistant, Jessie Kavanagh directly supports the Vice President for Programs and team of program officers responsible for NYSHealth’s work to empower health care consumers and its Special Projects Fund. She is responsible for assisting senior management and program staff with grants management, grantee communications, background research, financial accounting, and event coordination. Ms. Kavanagh also helped manage grants related to Foundation’s earlier work to expand health care coverage and advance primary care.
Prior to joining NYSHealth, Ms. Kavanagh was a health initiatives intern at the Community Service Society of New York (CSS). At CSS, she aided both the Community Health Advocates program and Health Care for All New York initiative with work related to health policy, consumer engagement, and communications. Previously, she worked as an administrative assistant at Fifth Avenue Fertility and as a paralegal at Abrams, Cohen and Associates. Ms. Kavanagh has also interned at Harlem Health Promotion Center, an organization working to reduce heart disease in northern Manhattan, and in the legal services department at GMHC.
Ms. Kavanagh holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from Boston University and a Master of Public Health Policy and Management degree from CUNY School of Public Health, Hunter College.
