Ebony Meeks

As National Urban Fellow, Ebony Meeks works closely with the Senior Program Director in evaluating the performance of programs and grantees. Ms Meeks is assisting with the management and implementation of NYSHealth’s organizational scorecard and coordinates grantmaking activities across priority areas.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Ms. Meeks served as assistant press secretary at the U.S. Department of Energy under President Obama, where she helped educate the public on the energy and climate challenges facing the nation. She also served in various communications roles in both Barack Obama’s and Hillary Clinton’s 2008 bid for the Presidency. Preceding her work in presidential politics, Ms. Meeks was a part of the Spitzer-Paterson 2006 Gubernatorial campaign and later joined the Office of the New York City Comptroller William Thompson, Jr. as a press officer.

Ms. Meeks holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations from the John H. Johnson School of Communications at Howard University. She is poised to complete her Master of Public Administration from the School of Public Affairs at CUNY Baruch College in summer 2012.
