As Program Officer, Bronwyn Starr manages NYSHealth’s Advancing New York State's Prevention Agenda portfolio, which provides county health departments with funding and technical assistance to reduce health disparities and tackle the root causes of diabetes and other chronic conditions, such as obesity and smoking. Ms. Starr also oversees grants within NYSHealth’s Advancing Primary Care priority area; specifically, projects that expand access to and capacity of primary care services.
Prior to joining NYSHealth in September 2010, Ms. Starr led a program at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene that helped primary care providers improve medication adherence for their patients with chronic disease. She also worked in the reproductive health sector with Planned Parenthood and was an emergency medical technician for 10 years.
Ms. Starr holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Oregon and a Master of Public Health degree from New York University.
