As Program Officer, Bronwyn Starr manages grants across two NYSHealth priority areas: building healthy communities and advancing primary care. Ms. Starr works with grantees on a range of projects, including county health departments to reduce health disparities and tackle the root causes of diabetes and other chronic conditions; community-based organizations to make their neighborhoods healthier places to live; and academic medical centers to expand primary care access and capacity in the most rural parts of New York State.
Prior to joining NYSHealth, Ms. Starr led a program at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene that helped primary care providers improve medication adherence for their patients with chronic disease. She previously worked in the international health sector with Catholic Relief Services and Planned Parenthood, and was a New York City emergency medical technician for 10 years.
Ms. Starr holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Oregon and a Master of Public Health degree from New York University.
