New York State Health Foundation’s 10-Year Anniversary
2016 marked the 10-year anniversary of the New York State Health Foundation (NYSHealth), and we were excited to commemorate this occasion with our Board, grantees, staff, and other partners. Since we began operations in 2006, we have awarded more than $117 million to more than 400 grantee organizations in our mission to improve the health of all New Yorkers, especially the most vulnerable.
The Foundation marked this milestone with three key elements:
On October 20, 2016, we hosted an afternoon event with reflections on our past 10 years of grantmaking, as well as a look ahead to the future of our two priority areas: building healthy communities and empowering health care consumers.
To mark our 10-year anniversary, we created two special awards programs to recognize a total of 10 influential organizations and/or leaders working to improve health in New York State. The 10 award recipients were recognized at our anniversary event.
The Luminary Awards recognize 5 leaders who have made extraordinary contributions to improve the health of New Yorkers over the past 10 years.
Emerging Innovator Awards recognize 5 New York-based nonprofit organizations poised to make radical improvements to the state of New York’s health over the next 10 years.
We also commemorated this occasion with a report that highlights our accomplishments, impact, and lessons learned over the past 10 years, along with our future grantmaking endeavors.
