Measuring Our Impact
As we strive to create social change, it is vital that we hold ourselves accountable to using a logical and focused approach to achieve specific goals and outcomes. Toward that end, we are committed to tracking and measuring our impact in our areas of programmatic focus and progress on indicators related to our organizational effectiveness. We use the following tools to help assess our impact:
Grant Outcome Reports
After an NYSHealth project has closed, we usually write a grant outcome report to capture the initiative’s impact. With input from the grantee and NYSHealth program staff, grant outcome reports take an honest look back at the program, document the work completed, and share lessons learned, including how we might have better supported our grantee’s efforts. Grant outcome reports are available online.
Additionally, the Foundation often takes a step back after funding a series of grants designed to affect health policy, health service improvements, or overall improvements in health. Over time, the Foundation has produced special reports to assess our contribution or direct impact upon observable changes as a result of these sets of grants. Assessment reports are available online.
Our scorecard of indicators keeps us true to our organizational goals and objectives. The scorecard tracks our progress toward specific targets we have set for ourselves in four areas: outcomes related to our strategic program goals; the quality of our reputational capital; how well we are communicating, learning from, and replicating our work; and the general effectiveness of our grantmaking. Each section of the scorecard is available by clicking on one of the links below.

Dashboard Summary: Our dashboard focuses on a subset of the most important scorecard measures that the Foundation’s senior management team and Board of Directors track closely as key indicators of overall performance. Our dashboard tells us at a glance where we are on track and where we have room to improve.
